Sending Cards to the Military

http://www.letssaythanks.com/SendCard.asp

On Monday December 14 and Tuesday December 15, students were given the opportunity to write Christmas cards out to military persons who were injured in the war. We are hoping to send about 100 cards from our team. I also have another opportunity for everyone and it is to click on the link above and choose a card to send via the internet. When you do actually send a card, post a comment and let me know you did one and I will give you 5 extra credit points for Inspire!

Thanks for showing someone you care enough to send a card.

Winding down 2000

Winter is here and so is the end of 2009...

Hoops for Heart deadline is Wednesday Dec. 16. In order to participate on Friday the 18th students must get pledges for at least $25. They then will get to get out of class and participate in pizza luncheon, basketball and a movie.

We will be finishing up our Chemistry unit in Science before Winter Break begins and our test is going to be on Friday December 18th. Ask your kids about all the experiments we did during this unit...it was pretty fun!

Both math classes have some quizzes this week, please check out www.galmish.com. We hope the website has been useful for everyone and let us know if there is other information you would like on there.

Thank you to all the parents who donated the boxes of Christmas cards, we really appreciate it. They will be sent out to Washington this week.

Just wanted to remind everyone of Thanksgiving Break next week. We only have a half day of school on Tuesday November 24th. Then no school Wednesday until the next Monday.

Thank you to all parents who came to conferences! It was great talking with all of you and we hope you are satisfied with what is going on with your kids. If you ever have any questions please feel free to get ahold of Andy or I.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Conferences November 11 and 12, 2009

Conferences

Conferences are coming soon. Unlike conferences at Highlands and the elementary schools, you do not have to schedule an appointment. You can come during one of the time periods and wait to talk to your child's teachers. The evening times tend to be busier than the day times, so if you can attend during the day you may not have as long of a wait. (Wednesday evening is always VERY busy!)

Here is the conference schedule:
  • Wednesday, November 11 5:00 to 8:00 PM (usually busy)
  • Thursday, November 12 8:oo to 11:00 AM
  • Thursday, November 12 12:30 to 3: 30 PM
  • Thursday, November 12 5:00 to 8:00 PM
If you are unable to attend conferences and you would like to schedule another time, please contact Kristy Templar at ktemplar@nvps.net or 361-3430.

Academic Help Sessions

  • Just wanted to remind you after school help started on Tuesday the 29th of September. Kids can come in and make up work or get extra help in any subject area. If you live within the district we have an after school bus that will take kids home to your doorstep. The help session lasts from 2:35-3:30.
  • Also, on Wednesday's during our 1st hour Inspire class, students have the opportunity to work on homework during that time. Tuesday's and Thursday's during Inspire, students will be either be working in a Math help session or a Reading/Writing session.
  • Starting next week, we are also going to have kids come to our classrooms during lunch if they are missing assignments in our classes. This usually helps kids get going a little bit because they don't like to miss the social hour of lunch. P.S. They do bring their lunches with them!
If you have questions please let me know:)

Math Book Online

We also received new 7th grade math books. We sure are lucky! There is an online option for these books also. The students received a yellow sheet today giving them access codes and the web address which shows them where to go and the codes they need to input for accessing certain areas. There are many different places the kids can go for extra help, reading the book online, video tutorials, etc. We also be going over how to access the book online here at school so if you are having difficulty please let me know. This one is much more complicated than the science book.
