Wednesday March 31

2nd Hour math: students worked on a quiz today over sections 11.1-11.3.

5th Hour math: students took a Chapter 9 test today. They will have an opportunity to retest if necessary after break but you need to remember they need to do some studying with me and retakes will be Tuesday or Thursday after school or Thursday during Inspire.

3/7th hour Science: students took a test today during science over Photosynthesis.

It is hard to have tests before Spring Break but I have a hard time waiting a week and then giving tests as soon as we come back. Kids forget too much information at that point!

When we return from break in Science we will be starting our final unit on WEATHER!!!

Tuesday March 16

2nd hour Math: studentS had a quiz today over Sections 8.5 -8.7. They seem to be struggling a bit with graphing slope lines. I think they need to do more studying at home. They have been given many worksheets to use and may problems in the book. We have continuously gone over problems during class time but no one seems to be writing information down to help understand the problems. With their quiz, we do not have math class tomorrow, so they will finish up their quizzes on Thursday. They have two days to do some more studying!!!!!!

5th hour Math: today we will be taking a over 8.6 and 8.7 on the Pythagorean Theorem and Square Roots. Hope all goes well for each of them!

Science: starting a new section today called Producers and Plants. Students will be reading an article and filling out a chart on Comparing Plant and Animal needs. Should be able to complete in class today.

DON'T FORGET THE EXPLORE TEST IS TOMORROW FROM 7:40-10:40! PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR KIDS ARE WELL RESTED AND GET TO SCHOOL ON TIME.
THANKS!

Friday March 12

2nd hour Math: students today started working on Solving Systems of Linear Equations. Basically seeing if two equations will intersect with each other when graphed. Homework for today is 1-25 page 442. Ch. Pt. Quiz page 444.

5th hour Math: Today we worked on the Pythagorean Theorem. a squared + b squared = c squared. Homework for today is 8.7 1-15 page 407

Science: student started working on building models of the chemical formula that deals with photosynthesis with colored beads and sticks. We just started it and will finish it up on Monday.

Wednesday March 10

2nd Hour Math: students finished their quizzes over sections 8.1-8.4. We then started scatter plots and graphing information dealing with trends. Their homework for today, which isn't due until Friday, is 8.5 1-23 and 8.6 1-21 odds. On Thursday, the kids will also be getting a worksheet to do during class. They will have all day tomorrow to work on getting all of this finished. No new information on Thursday:)

5th hour Math: kids took their test over Chapter 7. If they need to retake their quiz we will review next Tuesday morning and they will need to stay after school on Tuesday, March 16th.

Science: kids took a test over cells today.

Tuesday March 9

2nd hour math: kids worked on a quiz today over sections 8.1-8.4. They seemed to struggle a bit so I told them they should be looking through their books tonight to make sure they know what they are doing tomorrow when they come in to finish their quiz. No homework other than to study more!

5th hour math: kids have a test tomorrow over Ch. 7. Their homework for today was 12-32 on the Chapter 7 test.

Science: we went over the study guide in class today together. I also gave kids the opportunity at the beginning of the hour to finish up their study guides. Test is multiple choice and essay. If they have and study their study guide they should do very well on the test.

Monday March 8

2nd Hour Math: today we worked on finding the functions of a table and a graph. Finding the function basically means finding the slope equations that go with the table or graph. Homework was 4-8, 13-23 page 424 and check point quiz 1-8 page 426. There is a QUIZ tomorrow over 8.1-8.4.

5th Hour Math: today we worked on Chapter Review 10-15, 17-21, 22-23. page 367. Chapter Test is on Wednesday the 10th of March!

Science: Today the kids received a study guide during class. We also watched a movie called Cell Division which helped fill in some of the information on the study guide. Many have majority of the study guide finished, they should be studying the information within the study guide because their test is on Wednesday March 10th. Study guide will be due 1/2 way through the class tomorrow and then we will go over the correct information for their test!

Saturday, March 6, 2010

Friday March 5

2nd hour Math: We reviewed the first three sections of chapter 8. Today we graphed slope by looking at equations. The kids continued on their homework on 8.3 by graphing 11-19, 31,33,35,37. I feel like majority of the kids are now understanding the information. We do have a quiz on Tuesday over sections 8.1-8.4.

5th hour Math: today we constructed perpendicular bisectors and congruent line segments. Their homework was 1-6 and then they will use the compasses to complete 7-14. We will be having a chapter 7 test on Wednesday of next week.

Science: students complete act. 63 on Chromosomes, DNA, and Cell Division. There will be a science test over infectious diseases and cells next Wednesday.

Wednesday, March 3, 2010

Wednesday March 3

Science: today the kids read some information about Chromosomes/Genes/DNA and cell reproduction and cell division. No Homework:)

2nd hour Math: we went over the information from yesterdays lesson and then started more equations for slope. Many kids are struggling so we need to make sure they do some reviewing/studying. They are supposed to be taking continuous notes through this section due to the complexity of the work. 8.3 HW 1-19 page 418

5th hour Math: today kids learned how to make circle graphs. The lesson had a lot of information in it today so hopefully they took notes and use them when doing their assignment today. HW 7.7 1-15 page 356

Tuesday March 2

Science: Today we finished up act. 42 with analysis questions 3,4,6. Discussed the information we read from the textbook. The kids then read our Science World magazines, which I bought due to a grant I received from the Northview Education Foundation, for the remainder of the hour. Next week there will be a test over cells!

2nd hour Math: today kids continued learning about SLOPE. They started solving for y in an equation by using tables to plug in numbers. They then needed to graph the points to tell whether the line was a function or not. If the line is a straight line it is a function, if crooked not a function.
Many kids also retook their chapter 7 test and I hope to have them corrected by Wednesday for conferences.

5th hour Math: students took a quiz over Triangles and Parallelograms. They needed to tell what sides and angles are equal to each other and the names of the shapes. They then started working on the different parts of circles. Pretty tough for many! 1-16 was their homework.

Monday March 1

March is finally here!

2nd hour Math: Today we started a new unit on Solving Equations/Graphing Equations. We will be learning about Slope of a line in this unit. Today we worked on functions, domain, and range. The kids took some notes to help them with their processing of math information today and to help with their homework. Kids received their Ch. 7 tests back today. They need to come and see my sub tomorrow if they plan on retaking the test during Inspire on Tuesday or after school.

5th hour Math: We worked on Quadrilaterals/Parrellolograms in 7.4. Their homework is 1-22, I think? I am not at school typing this and have forgotten. Sorry!

Science: we worked on a summary for our Diffusion and Osmosis notes we took on Friday. Most kids handed them in! We then started act. 42 about parts of cells and how cells make up tissues, organs, organ systems, and the whole human body. Kids read and worked on some questions on their own today. They then needed to complete analysis questions 3,4, and 6 from Act. 42
